FMP Post 4 -10th February 2016

Wednesday 10th February 2016

Today was a positive day as we could to work independent /with the director/with my peers.
In our independent session I work with 2 members of the teacher’s scene. We practice our signing. I also find the more I do it the quicker and better I am but when I stop for a day I lose all of the work I put it in to so maybe if I film me doing it I could watch it back and it could remind me. I think I need to do it everyday to help me with remembering as well speed. I need to work on my characterisation but it could be a bit too early for me to learn it as I haven’t got all the signs learnt, the signs I do know I do it with confidence as well as characterisation. I find that practicing with one person they are reading all the line is so much more difficult as it practices with different for different character because the one person reads it more like a monologue so it hard to keep up.
Working with our director help me so much as I wasn’t here last week. I now know the layout which helps me as I know where I’m walking to and standing. I now have a better understanding of how fast the scene is and when the speaker for my character is talking that sometimes I not need to listen as my signing is different.  I started off well and was proud of myself but as we were doing it over and over I start to lose my confidence so think I need to work on everything to the deliver to the signs to improve.

My strengths are that I practise on signing for the first hour of the session, so I was confidence when I went to practise with the director.
My weakness from this session would be that when I was getting feedback I became panicked because I was remembering the feedback as well and remembering my signs. I think when I become more confidence with my signs I will be calmer in the session with the director.

Physical Theatre

We watched a piece of physical theatre called “Time of Your Life” by Gecko, as their use gestures.

“an ordinary man at its heart. Desperate to feel different and to find a real human connection in a world consumed by social networks and mass advertising, the man embarks on a journey through rooms representing different milestones in his life. The rooms are transformed using the powerful visual effects of theatre to create an increasingly vivid world for the viewer that disintegrates just as quickly as it appears.”

I understand the first part of the piece but it really confusing after he “Die” I find it got really confusing as he keeps going back stage on the set as it didn’t make sense.  I find that the why the use the gestures and voices. Their used this one section to shows every day life and how days just mould in to one.

The section part of this lessons we work on the words   fraudulent/secretive/selfish/wanting/supportive. They were slit in to two different groups. My group worked on support/want/survival. Within our groups we worked in small group to come up with a set of movement that shows those words. I was partnered up with someone who is the same ability in movement so it made it easier to work with. I find that working with her I find it was easier to come up with ideas. When we join back with our group. We find it really hard to link all the piece as we had to create a piece that would go though the audience and was 2 persons deep, I find the ideas we came up were just touching the surface of what we could do. The ground itself I thought we had a good range of ability so it would be something interesting on what we could come up with, but we just have strong characters and people who will just let other people lead. I find this is where the problem is for our group and I think we will run in to this problem thought out whole time with doing our FMP.

My strengths from this session would be that I came up with some strong work and my weakness would be that I didn’t contribute to the group as much as I should.

Friday 12th February

The morning spilt in to two parts for me. The first part morning was learning a section of movement which it based on spoken word poem about teenage pregnant. We had 9 steps of the piece as we are doing simple but powerful movements.
Steps
1.     First time getting drunk – 15/16 teenage.
2.     Getting told you pregnant
3.     Having family and friends abounding you
4.     Look at objects Blane/stairs/lamp
5.     Kneeing position as intake of breath suddenly
6.     Laying in a “foetal” position
7.     On the word “Yell” hand slaps on the floor
8.     Stands up and look at the baby
9.     Walk off stage.

I find this part of the morning very emotionally draining as it needed to be performed with such conviction. I find that I got really in to the character of the girl which I enjoy because it felt I was performing at my best.

The second half of the morning was spent with sally. I felt this benefited me hugely as I got to work on cleaning it up as well as getting some answers to the question like what way to do a sign? I also find I had go to extra as it made more sense to the audience.

My strengths from today would be getting in to the spoken word poem and I am proud of my improvement of signing.

I feel I didn’t I have any weakness from this lesson, that stood out.

FMP - Post 3- 5th and 7th February

Friday 5th February 2016

This week as I had one session on Friday as I wasn’t in school as I had an interview. The lesson was focus on out ending movement piece we started with working individually on a small movement section that relates to kind gestures. We need to pick 5 gestures for a movement section, I find it hard to begin with as I am not that confidence with my movement. I used “giving up your seat”, “giving someone money”, “returning something someone drop” and “given a seat.” I thought that using these would feel more natural to me as Its something I would and have done. I start very naturalise as it was easier and then I developed it in to more abstract as it did I became more confidence with it and was really pleased with the final piece.

We then look as group work, where we were split in to our scene which mean I was in the teachers group. We had to do 3 still images that related to our character so we choose marking, telling off, reading. I find that coming up the ideas easy but trying work out the details were hard as the group was made up with someone who I struggle to work with as they not like me.  I like the idea we came up with and the transitions as they all seem to going in to one other very well.

My strengths are that I came up with good section of movement that I’m proud of. I also proud that I am learning to work with the different people in my group.
My weakness is that at first I let that person get to me that I lost focus on my task.

This week we had our first signing lesson. We first when though the scene so sally (signing teacher) could have a better understanding of the scene, the majority of the lesson was to focus on what signs the signers need to do for the deaf audience to understand. I feel I pick it up very quickly because the way my mind works the more visually I can learn and the more times I go over it I became stronger in delivery as well as remembering it. I find that for that session I already know good majority of the signs.

I loved having this session as it gave me a better understanding of signing and as well as a better understand of what needs to be signed and what doesn’t. I find that in this lesson one of the members who wasn’t signing was very loud and didn’t help when we ask the speakers to slow down so it was hard to work with this member but I think the more practice I get the better I will find signing for someone talking.

My strengths from this session would be the speed I picked the signs up and the understanding I had of what was needed and what wasn’t needed signing.

My weakness would be the speed in which I sign as I find I got panicked at how fast my partner was speaking, which I will need to work on and how as a team we work and we need to be in time with each other.
